Tangled Up in Blue (TUIB), Yale’s premier folk singing group at the Royal Room in Seattle

Join TUIB for a performance at the Royal Room in Seattle on March 19 or catch them at the Capitol Hill Farmers’ Market or on Orcas Island. Details below.

Tangled Up in Blue (TUIB), Yale’s premier folk singing group, is excited to invite alumni to a matinee performance on Sunday, March 19th at the Royal Room as part of their upcoming spring break tour in Seattle. The event is open to the public, and TUIB is hoping to draw a healthy crowd to help cover travel expenses — they’re coming a long way from New Haven! Doors open at 2:00 PM, and the show starts at 2:30. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.

Founded in the late 1980s, TUIB (pronounced twihb) has a repertoire that ranges from the bluegrass tunes of Appalachia to traditional Irish ballads, and from the folk-rock hits of Bob Dylan to the contemporary jams of Valerie June and Brandi Carlile. They sing four-part folk harmonies and accompany themselves on guitar, banjo, fiddle, viola, and mandolin. Nowadays, TUIB is putting an even greater emphasis on the excavation, documentation, and sharing of folk music histories, especially those that have been deliberately left out of the American folk “canon.” The group performs frequently on campus, including a recent public performance at the Yale University Art Gallery.

You can also catch TUIB in action at the Capitol Hill Farmers’ Market on March 18th from 11AM to noon and at the University District market on Saturday afternoon, or at the Orcas Grange on Orcas Island at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 23rd.

Tickets for TUIB’s performance at the Royal Room can be purchased using the following link: https://theroyalroomseattle.com/event/tangled-up-in-blue/?instance_id=6347
